Rarity

Introduction

Rarity is a heavy zoning character that can effectively keep her opponents out by using both projectiles and high priority normals. As of right now, Rarity's defensive options heavily rely on using missile gem D which can be used to punish opponents from being too offensive that can lead to huge damage. Unfortunately, she has no high/low mixup game as every ground normal hits mid. Identifying which projectile needs to be used in conjunction with when to use normals are key to play as Rarity.

Notes: First 5C will whiff if opponent was crouching when they were hit; omit this 5C if this occurs. Will not work if opponent is near corner as 22C will not generate offscreen. 3C 22C may be tricky against grounded Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle. Use the combo listed below if you have issues with using this combo.

  • BnB Combo 2: 2A/5A > 2B > 5C > 2C > 3C > j.A > j.B > 22A > 22C > 5C* > 3C > j.A > j.B > 22C > 22A > 5C* > (3C or Gemstorm)

Magic meter used: 0
Notes: This BnB combo works universally against all characters without any issues. Extremely good combo to learn first.

  • Ground gem loop: 2A/5A > ( 5B > 5C > 214DD ) x n > BnB combo of choice

Magic meter used: 1 x n
Notes: Rarity's gem loop. Extremely damaging combo and can also be started from a gem that hits the opponent from behind. Combo can be continued as normal depending on which BnB is preferred. Also a must learn Rarity combo.

  • Max range 5C hit confirm: 5C > 623A > j.A > BnB combo of choice

Magic meter used: 0
Notes: Rarity's hitconfirm from a max range 5C. Extremely useful to know.

  • Throw combo: 6D > 5D (Activate Missile Gem) > 5B > 5C > 3C > 22C > 22A > 2B > 5C* > (3C or Gemstorm)

Magic meter used: 1
Notes: Missile Gem D (214/236D) must have been set before the throw occurs and must hit behind the opponent.

  • BnB combo extender (air only): 5C* > 214DD > 5B > 5C

Magic meter used: 1
Notes: Can be used during a combo to increase damage if magic meter is available. Can only be performed if the opponent is airbourne. This extender can be used in any midscreen combo denoted using 5C*
